A method of grinding particulate material to reduce the particle size thereof by subjecting the particles to impacting by UHP liquid jets while the particles are restrained within a defined space to thereby be repeatedly impacted with a rigid surface in a manner to be fractured into smaller particles and rebounded there off to be again entrained in the UHP liquid jets to further impact with the surface of the defined space.
