The fuel metering control method uses the operating duration of a magnetic fuel injection valve (110) for determining the quantity of fuel delivered to the engine, calculated in dependence on monitored engine operating parameters. The operating duration of the magnetic fuel injection valve is corrected in dependence on the valve temperature and/or the detected valve needle movement, the temperature obtained from the resistance of the magnetic valve coil (112), or the movement sensor coil.
