The appts. consists of a container (3) with an inlet orifice (5), an air extraction outlet (5') and a suction tip (1) designed to fit the source of secretion and connect with the container. A supple tube (9) connects the chamber's outlet to a suction source. A tip shaped to remove nasal mucus is tapered and has an intake of between 2 and 5 mm. in dia., and pref. 2.5-4 mm. A funnel-shaped tip is used for drawing off breast milk. The container comprises outer (4) and inner (7) chambers, the former connected to the suction source and the latter to inlet (5). The two chambers are linked through an aperture (8). The chambers, suction tip and suction source connector are made from a refractory glass e.g. Pyrex (RTM), Rasotherm (RTM) or Simax (RTM), or of a synthetic material with similar physical properties, e.g. Bast (RTM), Kostil (RTM), Sumin (RTM) or Makrolon (RTM), while the flexible tubes are pref. of silicone or PVC. |
