The imaging device has an objective lens (1) with a pair of transparent films (11a,11b) contained within a housing (15) with a clear fluid (13) enclosed between them. A control device (2) exerts a periodic force on one of the films (11a) having a given thickness profile, for altering its curvature radius, to alter the focal width of the lens, to provide an image with an area of high contrast via a number of images obtained with different focal widths.
