An elastic narrow fabric has a first weft (A) in a first upper plane running across a number of adjacent elastic yarns (B) in an intermediate plane and a further weft (E) in a second lower plane. Warp yarns (F) run along the length of the fabric to form the stitches. At least one inelastic additional monofil thread (C) is inserted as weft in a further plane (Ebene 3) to stabilise the fabric in the transverse direction and maintain its width.
