The separator removing particles from gases such as coolant, oil or fat mists, has at least two opposite rows of channels, which are open in cross section (10, 12). The profiles consist of, or have at least locally, a material (24, 26) insulating against high electrostatic potentials. Preferably, the sections are metal, e.g. aluminium, coated at least on the internal surfaces with the insulant, which is or contains e.g. polyester, its thickness being 1-500 mu m, pref. 1-10 mu m. The covering is applied at least locally, preferably internally and externally and is applied as a painted or plastic layer. Powder- or dip coating may be used.
