Fruit or other agricultural products are preserved by means of wrapping materials coated or impregnated with a solution or its emulsion in water of diphenyl in a liquid hydrogenated polyphenyl, or by dipping the products in an aqueous emulsion of the solution containing preferably 2 per cent or more of diphenyl. Preferably the hydrogenated polyphenyl is obtained by hydrogenating until liquid at ordinary temperatures the mixture of polyphenyls resulting from the pyrolytic cracking of benzene from which mixture diphenyl has been removed. The solution can contain between 10 per cent and 25 per cent of diphenyl.
