A precooler device for a continuous deep-freezing tunnel (1) provided with either one or more conveyor belts (3, 5) or an upward air flow system or "fluidised bed". The upper portion of the tunnel includes a refrigerated chamber containing a precooler device consisting of a single-use flexible film (8) moving along a stationary horizontal support (7) in the opposite direction to the conveyor belt or fluidised bed therebelow. The assembly is designed in such a way that the products being frozen are precooled on said film and an ice crust is formed on the surface of the products before they are frozen on the conveyor belt(s) or by the fluidised bed. The device is particularly suitable for processing bulk products, particularly fresh or prepared vegetables such as peas or green beans.
