The invention relates to a process for determining the level of shaved hair in a shaver which contains at least one shaving head comprising at least one top cutter and at least one bottom blade, the bottom cutter and/or the top cutter being movable. During shaving the noises from at least one movable bottom cutter or top cutter are recorded by a measuring system, and the noises are assessed with respect to the frequency thereof to reach a conclusion about the level of shaved hair in the shaver. On the basis of said evaluation, a criterion is established and compared with an ideal value which corresponds to a clean shaver.
