In a system for triggering a restraining device for protection from a side collision in a motor vehicle, a measured transverse acceleration signal (b(t)) is integrated in an evaluation device (2), weighted with a time-dependent (22) signal and, finally, compared with a threshold value (24). Thus, a side collision can be advantageously distinguished from a frontal collision with strong transverse acceleration components or from a hammer blow against the side of the vehicle. |
