Curved conveyor with one hundred and eighty degree direction change

The direction-changing conveyor (11) takes workpiece carriers (50) off the end of one double belt conveyor (12) and takes them to the end of a further similar conveyor (14) running parallel to the first in the opposite direction. The direction-changing conveyor has two guide rails mounted on a semicircular baseplate (16). The guide rails are bent round in a semicircle and the flat workpiece carriers are moved along by an endless cord (26) which runs over a number of guide rollers (24) and projects slightly above the plane of the two curved guide rails. There is a drive motor (40) with a chain drive (42) and the cord is tensioned by a dancing roller system (71).
