<p>An electric furnace assembly comprises an electric arc furnace (1) with an electrically conducting furnace bottom (3), at least two electrodes (2) and a number of power sources (6) equal to the number of electrodes, each power source comprising a transformer (7), group of valves (8) and control unit (9). Each power source is connected by current conductors (4, 5) to one electrode and to the electrically conducting bottom, thus producing parallel branches. The power sources (6) contain opposing parallel groups of controlled valves (8), the control units (9) and central control unit (10) are so designed as to be capable of regulating and reversing the output voltage from the power sources and of regulating the reverse and phase periods and the ratio of the duration of the positive and negative polarities of the output voltage.</p> |
