A shank adapter for a rock drill, which is used to connect one end of a drill string to a rock drill, has a chuck end 7 made from one piece of material and an opposite, threaded end 6 made from another, different, material. The chuck end and the threaded end are permanently joined to one another in one stage of manufacturing by friction welding. The chuck end block 7 has a struck face 1 and a splined area 2. The threaded end has a threaded part 3 and a central bore 4 for the passage of coolant. |
