PURPOSE:To conduct recording according to the recording liquid absorbing capacity characteristics of a recording medium to obtain a high-quality and high-grade image at high speed even on a paper other than specified, by a method wherein a thinned-out output is controlled so that a thinned-out recording is conducted according to the information for identifying whether the recording medium is a specified paper or not. CONSTITUTION:According to an identification signal, designating whether a recording medium is a specified paper or not, from an information generating means (a) made of a dip switch, a panel switch, or a detection switch, a thinned- out output control means (b) thins out predetermined dots from a dot matrix made of pixels of input image information R, G, B and outputs the thinned-out dot information Bk, Y, M, C to recording heads (c), respectively. While the travel of a carriage is controlled through a carriage motor drive circuit D, a multi-color image recording is conducted on the recording medium with a thinning-out pattern. In this manner, a recording according to the recording liquid (ink) absorbing capacity characteristics of the recording medium is carried out and, thereby, a high-quality and high-grade image can be obtained at high speed even on a paper other than specified. |
