<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism to prevent wicking of solder and a flux material running along a connector terminal by forming an effective wicking preventive barrier by thermally fixing an external part of a housing. SOLUTION: A wicking preventive mechanism of an electric connector 10 installed on a printed circuit board having a solderable circuit trace, is provided. The electric connector 10 has a housing 12 having plural terminal receiving passages 22. Plural terminals 34 are inserted into the terminal receiving passages 22, and solder tails 34b of these terminals 34 project from the housing so as to be soldered to the circuit trace of the printed circuit board. The housing 12 has at least a single projecting rib 40 to impart an excess housing material in the vicinity of the terminals 34, and this is thermally fixed (40a) to the terminals 34, and solder wicking is prevented.</p> |
