MAGNETRON DRIVING POWER SOURCE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent voltage such as exceeding its withstand voltage from being impressed on a semiconductor switching element at discharge time of a high voltage circuit. SOLUTION: A magnetron driving power source is provided with an inverter circuit 2 having at least a single semiconductor switch element 3, a boosting transformer 5, a high voltage rectifying circuit 7 and a control part 11. The control part 11 is provided with a driving means 10 to impart an ON-OFF signal to the semiconductor switch element 3 and an overvoltage detecting means 9 to detect that overvoltage is impressed on the semiconductor switch element 3. The overvoltage detecting means 9 imparts a signal to the driving means 10 when overvoltage is impressed on the semiconductor switch element 3, and the driving means 10 forcibly puts the semiconductor switch element 3 in an electrically continuous condition by this signal, and absorbs the overvoltage.
