PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel alumina-base material having a high Q value and capable of reducing the absolute value of the temp. coefft. τf of resonance frequency. SOLUTION: A compact consisting of 78-96vol.% Al2 O3 powder and 4-22vol.% TiO2 powder is fired at <=1,300 deg.C to obtain the objective sintered compact contg. 86-96vol.% Al2 O3 (corundum) phase and 4-14vol.% TiO2 (rutile) phase and having <=3% open porosity, a dielectric loss (tanδ) of <=5×10<-4> measured at 10GHz frequency and <=30ppm/ deg.C absolute value |τf| of the temp. coefft. of resonance frequency in the temp. range of 25-85 deg.C. |
