PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a satellite communication system which can basically perform the 24-hour communication between the moon and the earth by using an irreducible minimum of lunar stations and data relay satellites. SOLUTION: A lunar station 7 is placed on the earth-oriented surface of the moon by utilizing a fact that the rotation cycle is equal to the revolution cycle of the moon. Thus the station 7 is always directed toward the earth and therefore can secure the communication with an earth station 5 for 24 hours. The data relay satellites 3 and 4 are placed on a geosynchronous orbit with a 120-degree space secured between them. The station 5 can secure a communication circuit 9 formed between the station 7 via both satellites 3 and 4 for 24 hours. At the time, a communication circuit 10 is secured between the station 7 and a lunar vehicle 8 moving on the lunar surface or an equipment placed at the side opposite to the earth-directing surface via a data relay satellite 6 that is set on a lunar orbit. |
