POINTING DEVICE AND PRODUCTION OF THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve sensitivity and to miniaturize a pointing device in the case of sending an input signal corresponding to the direction and strength of load impressed to an input member. SOLUTION: This pointing device is provided with a base 13, a supporter 14 straightly erected from the upper face of the base 13, plural elastically deformable elastic elements 15 extended from the upper end part of the supporter 14 to the side of the supporter 14, and strain gauge 16 for detecting the strain quantity of elastic elements 15, and an input member 12 is supported at the top end parts of four elastic elements 15. The supporter 14 and the elastic elements 15 can be integrally formed and, as its method, a sacrifice layer can be utilized as well. When silicon is used for the base 13, the signal processing circuit of the strain gauge 16 can be formed on the substrate 13.
