LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY PANEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to obtain a liquid crystal display panel of desired orientation with decreased defects by providing this panel with nucleus generating means for promoting the transition from spray TN orientation to ordinary TN orientation. SOLUTION: Pixel electrodes 2 and thin-film transistors are formed on a lower substrate 1. Black matrix light shielding layers 4, color filters 5 and common electrodes 7 are formed on the upper substrate 20. Projecting parts 31 of 1-micron height consisting of tantalum oxide having the dielectric constant higher than the dielectric constant of liquid crystals are formed as the nucleus generating means on the ITO pixel electrodes 2 of the lower substrate 1. Oriented films 15 are applied on the respective electrodes 2, 7 and one pixel is dividedly formed in the four orientation regions. Next, an empty cell is assembled and the fluorine nematic liquid crystals 14 are injected therein and are subjected to an annealing treatment. Further, the initially existing spray TN orientation region transfers to the ordinary TN orientation when 5V voltage is impressed between the upper and lower substrates 1 and 20. The orientation regions are then divided in compliance with the divided patterns.
