摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell having carrier structures for an electrochemical active element, which are more suitable as a substrate to be coated with a thin film. SOLUTION: A high temperature fuel cell having thin film electrolyte 10, has an electrochemical active element being a plane multilayer structure 1. At least electrolyte and negative electrode layers 10 and 11 are accumulated on a porous gas permeable carrier structures 20 and 30 by a thin film technology. The carrier structures are a sintered body of a metallic ceramic material 31 composed of a microporous base layer 30 and a cover layer 20 which is arranged on the base layer 30 and is composed of a positive electrode material having micropores. Pores of the base layer are communicated with each other, and have at least an average particle diameter of about 300μm. Pores 21 of the cover layer have a particle diameter not more than almost 1 to 3μm. A thermal expansion coefficient of the carrier structures 20 and 30 is almost equal to that coefficient of the solid electrolyte 10.
