PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce battery consumption when a cellular telephone set is not in use. SOLUTION: When an incoming call to a cellular telephone set arrives in a cellular exchange 103 and the exchange discriminates it that the cellular telephone set is not registered in base stations 107-109, a paging system 105 sends a paging signal instructing an incoming call to a pocket beeper. The user of the pocket beeper and the cellular telephone set applies power to the cellular telephone set, or the pocket beeper automatically turns on the cellular telephone set. When the cellular telephone set is started, the cellular telephone set is registered in the base station and the cellular exchange extends the call to the cellular telephone set via the base station. When no reply is made with the incoming call or the incoming call is finished, the paging system sends a 2nd paging signal to the pocket beeper. Upon the receipt of the 2nd paging signal by the pocket beeper, the power of the cellular telephone set is again interrupted. |
