LATERAL MOVEMENT DETECTOR FOR BELT AND LATERAL MOVEMENT CORRECTION DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely detect lateral movement, i.e., meandering by providing a compact sensing member having durability and being influenced by heat. SOLUTION: This detector is provided with first and second electrodes 42, 44 and conduction part 14 set on a belt, all the members constructing a contact type switch. When the belt is moved laterally from a first region to a second region 48, the conduction part 14 is brought into contact with the electrodes 42, 44 to thereby change an output signal of the contact type switch. A control unit 50 detects the output signal of the switch and upon the detection of change in the signal drives a correction unit 24 to thereby return the belt to the first region.
