PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the increase in the residual potential of a photoreceptor and to stably form an image for a long time by forming a surface protective layer having a porous structure and filling the pares with a charge transfer material. SOLUTION: A photosensitive layer 2 and a surface protective layer 3 are successively formed on a conductive base body 1. The surface protective layer 3 is preferably a film having a porous structure with >=30% porosity. After the surface protective layer 3 is formed, the layer 3 is dipped in a liquid prepared by dissolving a charge transfer material in an org. solvent so as to fill the pores of the surface protective layer 3 with the charge transfer material. The surface protective layer 3 is preferably a high hardness thin film of a diamond-like carbon or having an amorphous carbon structure, and it is preferable that the film has C-C bonds similar to diamond having an SP<3> orbit. The film thickness is preferably 1 to 3μm. It is preferable that the film contains F and N as the structural elements.
