PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an active gas by a level of less than ppb by a constitution wherein a cleaning electrode is provided adjacent to an electrode for sensing a gas. SOLUTION: Additional cleaning electrodes of three silver screen electrodes 22D, 22T, 22V are used in addition to a pair of cleaning electrodes 22, 22S. All of the electrodes are electrically connected with each other by inner terminals S-T and are connected to a silver conductor 24 and an external terminal 22E. The use of those additional electrodes makes sure that a dissolved active gas is quickly removed from an electrolyte E including the gas reacted at the main electrode 22 and the secondary cleaning electrode 22S. The electrode 22T is placed substantially away from and in parallel to the electrode 22S in the electrolyte E. The use of the cleaning electrodes in the sensor S makes it possible to analyze the electrochemical active gas in a level of less ppb, for example, a gas mixed material including oxygen without generating a noise and relying upon the dispersion of the electrolyte. |
