PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pressure sensitive adhesive excellent in initial adhesivity, aging characteristics and weather resistance and used as a surface protecting material in a sheet-shape, a tape-shape, etc., by compounding a specific hydrogenated rubbery polymer. SOLUTION: This pressure sensitive adhesive contains a hydrogenated isobutylene-based polymer (preferably, a polyisobutylene, a butyl rubber or a halogenated butyl rubber) having a weight-average molecular weight of 300,000-1,500-000. The polymer preferably contains 10-60wt.% of a lower molecular weight component consisting of a polyisobutylene having a weight-average molecular weight of 10,000-150,000, and the weight-average molecular weight of the total polymer of isobutylene including the lower molecular weight component is preferably 300,000-1,500,000. The pressure-sensitive resin is produce by laying a layer of the pressure-sensitive adhesive of commonly 1-200μm, preferably about 1-50μm, in thickness on a base material of commonly 5-300μm, preferably about 10-100μm, in thickness. The resin is used as a surface-protecting material for a coated board, etc.
