The tolerability of absorbable waxes for mechanical haemostasis in tissue in the body, especially bone, is improved by employing wax-like polyester oligomers, which are highly viscous or solid at body temperature, of lactic acid and/or glycolic acid, prepared using a polyfunctional alcohol to control the average molecular weight of the polyester oligomers, specifically glycerol. |
