PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plastic base material for a discharge type display having gas barrier property, water vapor barrier property, lightweight, and not broken by using plastic having the gas barrier performance of the specified oxygen gas permeability. SOLUTION: As plastic having gas barrier performance, a plastic base material having an oxygen gas permeability of 1ml/m<2> .24hr or less is used without specific limitation. When gas barrier performance is satisfied by only the plastic having gas barrier performance, the thickness of the plastic should be increased, and since transparency and light weight are difficult to obtain, the formation of a gas barrier layer is functional. As the plastic base material for forming a gas barrier layer, specific limitation is not set, various plastics are used depending on the size of a discharge cell, light permeability, and applications, but thickness of 5-10000μm is suitable. As the material for a gas barrier layer, an organic gas-barrier material, a metal oxide, and a metal fluoride are listed. |
