A heat-activatable reinforcing element in the form of a complex intended to be placed in footwear and made up of at least three layer elements. Said elements are a heat-activatable shape-memory element (1), a heat-activatable stiffening element (3), and a reinforcing fabric (2) inserted between the first two elements (1, 3). Said stiffening element (3) impregnates said reinforcing fabric (2) and has a softening point lower than the melting point of the fibres in the reinforcing fabric (2). Said stiffening element (3) and said shape-memory element may be heat-activated within the temperature range used during one footwear production cycle. Said element may be used in footwear. |
