<p>A method is described for introducing an FGF-5 nucleic acid sequence into a mammalian host cell. The FGF-5 nucleic acid sequence lacks the signal sequence so that cells that are transformed with the sequence will not become tumirogenic. It is intended that the FGF-5 sequence is introduced into mammalian cells to promote angiogenesis. Preferably, the FGF-5 sequence is introduced into a human patient to treat myocardial ischemia or peripheral vascular disease.</p> |
