Methods are described for preparing surface-active lactose derivatives with lactose being aminated reductively, in a one-step process, using a C1-C20 alkylamine and hydrogen in the presence of a transition metal catalyst; or lactose being aminated by means of reactive processing per part by weight of lactose, a C1-C20 alkylamine being used and the N-alkyl-lactosylamine being reduced; or lactose being reacted with an alkylamine and the N-alkyllactosyl-amine obtained being acylated; lactose being reacted with an acylamine or a urea; and/or a lactylamine or lactosylamine being oxidised, at least 2, in particular 4-50, primary alcohol groups per 100 being converted into a carboxylic acid; and/or a lactylamine or lactosylamine being converted into an amine acid. The derivatives are useful as surfactants, emulsifiers and dispersants. Instead of lactose derivatives of other galacto-oligo-saccharides can also be prepared and used.
|
