Polarisation interferometer with system for altering optical wavelength

The interferometer has a light source (1) for transmitting light along an optical axis (A), a polariser (3), an analyser (7;3) and a doubly refracting compensator element interposed between them. A further system is provided, with a compensator element (4a), which alters the optical wavelength compared to the first compensator element (4). It rotates about the optical axis (A). The light source is designed for transmitting light with several wavelengths. An electric motor (28) e.g. a stepper motor is provided for the rotation of the further compensator element (4a). The first and the further compensator elements are made of quartz.
