Machine for stamping figures on motor vehicle number plate

The machine has a hydraulic press (1) which clamps a blank number plate between male and female dies to stamp letters and numbers onto it. An indexing table (8) feeds the number plates through the press. A magazine (13) has holders for number and letter stamps stacked vertically in several registers (14). A drive system (22-33) indexes the magazine vertically to align the appropriate rack with a press table (2). A horizontal drive (23) feeds the appropriate stamps from the holders (34) into the press tool and after pressing, returns the stamps to the holders. The drive systems have stepper motors and drive belts. The machine operates under computer control.
