<p>A split wedge/breechblock (14, 10) for inserting and extracting the bridge seal (17) from the powder chamber of a gun tube. The device includes a sealing mechanism for the sliding surfaces between the wedge (14) and the breechblock (10), a bridge seal (17) for use in the XM 297 gun system, and an improved stepped wedge and breechblock design which eliminates adverse downward forces during gun firing.</p> |
