<p>The wire (1) tobe cut, is stored on a coil (2) from which it is removed by a drive at constant speed. The wire is first passed through a straightener (3) after which it runs through a set of cutters (4). The cut wires are fed into a rotating wire holder. After each cut, the holder rotate a step so that a wire can drop into a container (8). The pair of cutters consists of discs which each have a radially extending cutting edge. The two cutting edges face one another. While the wire runs between the discs, the cutting edges are located away from the wire. At a particular point in time, which depends on the required lengths, the discs are rotated and accelerated over half a turn until they reach the same speed as the wire. At this point, the cutting edges on the discs slide past one another and cut the wire.</p> |
