The answering machine includes several switches for selection of certain operational modes. Electric switching, amplifying, and control devices are also included for automatic, cyclical, functional course within the different operational modes, which can be activated by the door bell actuation. After setting an activating switch by the door bell, a microphone, which is integrated into the answering machine, digitally receives a spoken text. The spoken text is then reproduced via an external loudspeaker. Preferably several texts can be digitally stored, and one is selected as required.
