The tool has a housing and an applicator nozzle. A doctor knife is positioned on the nozzle, so that the adhesive passes through the nozzle in front of and behind the doctor knife, in working direction. The doctor knife extends mainly at right angles to the working direction. The tool slides on the edge (48) of the nozzle wall, which is leading in working direction. The doctor knife is positioned in the nozzle with its edge aligned with it. It is mainly straight, and consists of tubular or bar material (24), or profiled flat material. Its active surface is flat, and angled against the working direction.
