A Flexible Post Holder device having a flexible sign post holder that is suitable for use along roadways for marking the roadway by signs, the flexible post holder is comprised of a lower base plate that is permanently anchored to a hard ground surface. The lower base plate supports a resilient helical spring, the lower end of the helical spring that is mounted to the lower base plate and the upper end of the helical spring, being affixed to an upper base plate. Integral to the upper base plate is a cylindrical retaining member that is capable of receiving a sign post. In another embodiment, a tapered spike-like attachment plate can be secured to the lower base plate allowing the flexible post holder to be anchored into grassy and firmly packed ground soils. In both embodiments, the sign post is anchored to the cylindrical retaining member by helical threaded means. The sign post will yield when impacted by a vehicle, however, the resiliency of the helical spring will allow the sign post to be returned to its original vertical orientation. |
