The thrust reverser consists of a number of hinged flaps (7) which form part of the outer wall of the engine nacelle when closed, and are turned by an actuator to form barriers to the jet flow, deflecting it outwards and forwards. Each flap (7) has an inner panel (20) which is connected to the same pivot (27) as the flap itself, which is carried by the fixed structure of the thrust reversal system, and the panel and flap are linked by an epicycloid gear train with a toothed component (31) fixed to the flap and acting as the planet gear, a toothed outer crown wheel (34) on the inner panel, and at least one freely-rotating gear (33) between them acting as a satellite. When the flap is opened into the reverse thrust position the inner panel turns at the same time and in the opposite direction.
|
