The cordless telephone includes a display which is situated in an aperture (15) in the telephone handset surface (10). An edge region (20), surrounding the aperture, is sunk with respect to the apparatus surface. A decorative cover part is insertable in the edge region and is securable by a releasable coupling. Preferably the coupling is adhesive, typically by a double-side adhesive tape. The decorative cover part may have an adhesive face on the side facing the edge region for gluing onto the handset. The decorative cover part may preferably have an aperture for the display and/or apertures for the telephone keys (85).
