The gas distributor (1) has outlet nozzles (2) arranged in a row (R) and in burner pipes (3) pointing at right angles to the distributor. The open ends (3') of the burner pipes on the distributor side form air inlets (4). The gas distributor is divided longitudinally by a partition (5) into two compartments (6,7) with separate gas inlet connections (8,9). The gas outlet nozzles are in two groups (G,G') each connected to one compartment. The two-compartment distributor is in the form of an extruded piece (1') with its open ends tightly sealed by covers (15). The nozzle-side chamber has a connecting arm (10) on a level with the gas outlet nozzles. The corners (E) of the extruded section have screw ducts (14) extending over its entire length (L).
