The present invention provides a descaling system (10) for hot strip of plate mills. The descaling system (10) includes upper and lower spray headers (14, 18) which are offset from each other along the pass line (12). Each spray header (14, 18) is adapted to direct a high-pressure water spray on the metal product (S) to descale the upper or lower surface thereof. The upper and lower spray headers (14, 18) are offset at a distance greater than the length of the product (S), whereby the spray headers (14, 18) can be sequentially, separately used. The spray headers (14, 18) are coupled to a common drive pump (20). |
