The suction and sterilisation unit, for aerosols and vapours arising in thermo-surgical operations, consists of a suction intake line, an electrically heated chamber, a catalyst-containing chamber and a fan arranged successively. Preferably, the catalyst chamber contains a porous honeycomb body with 1-3 mm cell size, with an active coating of Pt, Rh and La0.9Ce0.1CoO3 (lanthanum cerium cobaltite).
