Derivatives of s-triazine as UV filters

Insoluble s-triazine compounds (I) of the following formula are new: in which R1, R1' and R1" are: where -R2 and R2' are 1-3C alkyl groups; -R3 is H, an 1-4C alkyl group, or a 1-4C alkoxy group; -R4 is a 1-12C alkyl group; -X1 is H or a phenyl group, possibly substituted by a halogen, a 1-4C alkyl group or a 1-4C alkoxy group. Also claimed is a composition (IV) to protect sensitive materials from UV radiation comprising (I). Also claimed is a method (V) of protecting sensitive materials from UV radiation comprising the application of (IV) to, or the incorporation of (IV) in, the sensitive material.
