PURPOSE:To decrease side lobe intensity and to obtain a more excellent recording/reproducing characteristic by transmitting light at the central part and shielding the light in the peripheral part near the center in a light emitting beam cross section from a light source. CONSTITUTION:By setting a light shielding band 21 in an emitting beam 22 cross section from the laser light source as shown in a figure (a), and constituting a light intensity modulator, light intensity distribution in an (x) direction in the cross section including the light axis of a beam spot at the focus of a condenser lens is shown by a full line in a figure (b). By the light intensity distribution to transmit the light is illustrated in a figure (e) in the central part of a pair of shielding lights as shown in a figure (d), the light intensity distribution of the condenser spot on the recording medium surface is shown in a figure (f), and it is clear that a primary side lobe 25 can be sufficiently smaller compared with that in the figure (c). Thus, the more excellent regenerative signal less effected by the side lobe can be obtained. |
