Tilting positioner for a micropositioning device

The device includes a rigid elongated member with a first free end and a second pivot end. The member is coupled at the free end to a first of the elements so as to prevent relative horizontal movement. A first pivotal is coupled on a first side of the longitudinal axis for pivotably coupling the pivot end of the elongated member to a first of the support members. A second pivotal is coupled across the longitudinal axis from the first pivotal coupling for pivotably coupling the pivot end of the elongated member to a second of the support members. A first small motion transducer actuator has a first end coupled to the first support member so as to prevent relative movement and an opposite end is coupled to a second of the elements so as to prevent relative movement. The first actuator is controlled to effect relative movement between the first support member and the second element so as to cause the elongated member to tilt.
