PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve conductivity, charging/discharging capacity, and a cycle characteristic, by mixing two particles, having the main bodies of nickel hydroxide and cobalt-containing oxy-nickel hydroxide. SOLUTION: Cobalt-containing oxy-nickel hydroxide B is obtained, by dipping nickel particle hydroxide A containing cobalt into a potassium peroxodisulfide aqueous solution and drying it. NaOH aqueous solution is dropped, in suspending the nickel B and the particle A into a cobalt sulfate aqueous solution, and stirring, to deposit cobalt hydroxide of bivalent cobalt on a surface, to obtain positive electrode active material. An positive electrode 1, wherein a foaming metallic porous body is filled with paste using the active material, and a negative electrode 2, wherein paste, using hydrogen storage alloy, is applied to a punched metallic core body, are wound spirally via separator 3. The electrodes 1 and 2 are inserted in a battery can 4, therein to inject an alkaline electrolyte, then to be sealed. This restrains the increase of remaining capacity in the negative electrode, to improve conductivity, charging/discharging capacity, and a cycle characteristic. |
