PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To copy a single/double side key by means of selective operation in either of an analog mode and a digital mode and to select a proper bit notch pattern in compliance with a key code designated by a user. SOLUTION: A key cutting machine is provided with a cutter wheel 40, a key driven element 54, and a key positioning device holding a master key 64 and a key blank 22 in the predetermined positions. By means of a longitudinal direction displacement element and a lateral direction displacement element 46, the cutter wheel 40 and the key blank 22 are displaced while related to each other. A first electronic position sensor and a second electronic position sensor individually emit a longitudinal direction positional signal and a lateral position signal, by which the position of the cutter wheel 40 related to the key blank blade is electronically specified. The key cutting machine is selectively operated when a mode control system is in either of an analog mode or a digital mode. |
