METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MEASURING LIQUID LEVEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly and accurately measure excess and deficiency of a level of a liquid filled in a beverage can or the like by using an image processing method before sealing the can by curling and fitting. SOLUTION: An inspection station is provided above a conveying means 2 directly connected to a filling process section 22. A lighting device 4 is provided on side face slightly above an opening end section of a beverage can 1 or the like filled with a liquid and a light is emitted in the horizontal direction. A reflection board 5 is provided on a side section opposite the lighting device 4 such that it is inclined so as to reflect the light to emit on an upper end section of the can. A television camera 6 is provided further above the lighting device 4 such that it diagonally faces the under section so as to take the upper section of the can and the upper end section of the liquid level in its sight. Thus, it is possible to quickly and accurately measure the liquid level in a non-contact manner before sealing the can by winding and fitting right after the process of a high speed filling means. Since the excess and deficiency of the liquid level is checked at an early process and the result is fed back to a filling machine, variation among individual filling nozzles can be suppressed and a constant filling quantity of each of the nozzles can be always attained.
