摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly detect a layer thickness of a photosensitive layer with a simple constitution, and to make an image forming condition adjustable in conforming therewith. SOLUTION: A photoreceptor drum 71 mounted inside a copying machine 100 is composed, by successively laminating the electric charge generating layer and the electric charge transporting layer containing orange dye stuff on an anodizing treated conductive substrate. On the vicinity of the photoreceptor 71, a sensor 50 provided with a light emitting element and the light receiving element, for detecting the film thickness of the photosensitive layer, is disposed. When a power source is applied on the copying machine 100 by turning on a main switch SW, sensor 50 emits light corresponding to the maximum adsorption wavelength of orange toward the photoreceptor drum 71 from the light emitting element, the its reflected light is received by the light receiving element. Then, the layer thickness of the electric charge transporting layer is detected through the light receiving quantity by the light receiving element, and the grid potential of a scolothoron charger 72 as adjusted depending on the layer thickness, when the layer thickness is >=8&mu;m. When the layer thickness becomes <8&mu;m, a display panel is allowed to execute a display for demanding the photoreceptor drum replacement and the display for indicating inhibition of copying. Moreover, the inputting operation by a key on the operation panel becomes unacceptable, and copying is prohibited.
